The title is very appropriate. This book has to be one of the most effective guides for developing raw strength. Wendler is the master. Not just in terms of developing strength. But he also has a great light hearted way of presenting his approach.

The reason I love this book so much is that it details a system of training that works. It clearly produces results. And it can be used effectively by lifters of all abilities from beginners to advanced. I myself use the program for young aspiring powerlifters and powerbuilders, rugby and league players and competitive powerlifters preparing themselves for competition.

The basis of the program is simple. It focuses on 4 core lifts and provides a progressive path toward increasing strength in these lifts. Accessories are also completed in each workout but the major focus is on the top set in the particular core lift on that day. Personal records are regularly achieved.

The book includes easy to use templates which enable you to plan and track progress. Again these are very simple to use.

The book is only under $20 USD. This represents great value for money. I thoroughly recommend that you purchase this book. The reality is that you could obtain the system for free on the internet. But the book is about more than just the system. It will be a great addition to your strength library.

Book reviews

Part of becoming smarter should include reading and writing everyday. I undertook to do an hour of each at the beginning of the year. I often hit the writing target but battle with the reading at times.

As part of my desire to achieve my daily target I am now going to post a review of each book I complete. This should help motivate me to read more!

What do I read? A variety of non fiction. Lots of inspirational books and mainly stuff which I think is going to help me get bigger stronger and smarter. Look out for my reviews.
